WAES Message Points for Reforming
Wisconsin's School-Finance System (developed by Doug Gould)
Frame
Public education is about ensuring the future of our communities
and children, and creating opportunity for all.
Our community's future is being threatened by irresponsible
and unnecessary budget cuts for our school districts.
-
We have made a great deal of progress in improving our
school systems, which are key to creating opportunities
for our children and our community's prosperity.
-
Only with adequate support can our school systems prepare
the next generation of workers and strengthen our state's
economy.
-
Instead of cuts, our community's schools need added resources
targeted for up-to-date teaching materials, fixing crumbling
buildings, and eliminating classroom overcrowding.
Strong communities require stong public school systems.
-
Public schools ensure our children and community's futures,
and we know how to go the rest of the way to make them
the best they can be.
-
They nurture responsible citizenship and help our children
become productive members of the community.
-
Our public schools are the flagships of our communities,
fostering caring and pride, and continuing our shared
history and heritage.
-
Public schools must be strong to create the leaders of
tomorrow's communities.
Support our public schools to make progress for everyone.
-
Talk to your legislators and tell them Wisconsin's school
systems need more, not less, resources. Make sure you
vote for people who want to strengthen our community's
public schools, not those who would tear them down.
-
Talk to your friends and educate them about what is going
on here.
-
Be involved in your child's learning in whatever way
you can.
-
Say "no" to user fees that mean unfair treatment
of students with less means. Everyone needs an equal opportunity
to learn and participate in school programs.
