Dan Brereton, president of the Florence
County School District, explained to
the 200 attending the press conference
that his school district had been forced
to the brink of dissolution because
Wisconsin’s school-funding formula
can’t keep pace with increasing
costs. He challenged lawmakers to come
back to Florence and help his community
prepare for the next referendum they
will need to keep the school’s
doors open. |

over 200 people, April 19, for the press
conference on Assembly Joint Resolution
35 and Senate Joint Resolution 27. The
resolutions call on the Legislature
to change the formula by July 1, 2009,
so that it provides sufficient revenue
to educate every child in the state
to rigorous academic standards. |
